Buffet Lunch @ Equinox
All thanks to Christine and Yeelin, Mr. A and I had a very sumptuous lunch at Equinox for only half the price, with a lovely view of the city area to boot.
This is called eating smart when even when the economy is in the deepest doldrums. Muahahaha.
Looking civilized before diving into his "apple-tizer"
Tucking into my stick!
Smoking one
The "angry" look because I had to retake this picture a number of times. But I was happy devouring all the desserts!
Caramel mousse, strawberry cheescake, mixed berry pudding, bread pudding. Whatever I can grab
Marshmallows with condensed milk (uberly sweet!), grapes and strawberries on sticks, raspberry and exotic sorbet.
Chocolates of my eye
Trying to hide his mouthful of food
The view from where we were seated
Another view

XXIX
The birthday boy, after the stroke of twelve midnight, was called upon by Miss Sandy Cham to peek out out of his kitchen window from the 15th floor, where he found her waiting at the playground, with a handful of colourful balloons to kickstart his special day.
Surprise celebration at the playground with the works - cake, balloons, candles and sash.
The cake which I DIY at The Icing Room. Although it looks kinda juvenile, please cut me some slack since it's my 1st time at decorating. At least the cake is edible!
*Happy birthday to you, you were born in the zoo, you were born with the monkeys, and you look like one too!*
Yey! Can these balloons fly me to the moon?
Birthday boy and his muse.
All hail the birthday boy!
The birthday boy tried an 'unorthodox' way to fulfil the idea of a staycation at Swissotel for his 29th year on Earth. Although he did not quite succeed, *a-hem*, it turned out that there was a promotion for the weekend and he managed to snag a room at about 19% less the usual rate. Birthday boy = good luck :)
To top things off, the lovely staff at Swissotel upgraded us to a bigger room on a higher floor. "A pair of happy customers is preferred to an empty room!", I reasoned.

On top of the world (or nearly) looking.
Is Sandy going to surprise me by sending someone jumping through the window? *ponders*
Ready to tuck into the mildly spiced Buffalo wingers.
Wondering if the Angus Beef Tenderloin is up to standard? To answer the question, yes it is!
My Moroccan duck breast which was very, very, very dry. It's a far cry from the very juicy and succulent duck I had in Paris. Rather disappointing.
Riders Cafe - I like this place for its simplicity, high ceiling and rustic feel.
We decided against having dessert as I bought apple strudel which we kept in the hotel room. So we made our way back, not before going to the supermarket for some vanilla ice-cream, which Mr. A said would go very well with the apple strudel.
*yum* No pictures but it was a good combination! Full as I was, I easily polished off my share without any leftovers.
After stuffing ourselves silly, we decided to work our way to New Asia Bar and groove the calories away!
But it was so small and the view wasn't exactly spectacular. In fact I think it's about the same as what I can see from our room, except this is from a higher floor. Therefore after some finger guessing games with a Peach Bellini and Shirley Temple cocktail, both of us were ready to call it a night.
The next morning, we prepped our stomachs for the breakfast buffet by working out at the hotel gym before settling down for a full 1 hour breakfast at a leisurely pace.
Time sure passes fast when you're having a good time!

Words Women Use
For all those who have ate at Botak Jones before, this will NOT be unfamiliar to you. Just how true is it? If my memory didn't fail me, I've used just about every word/phrase listed below. Very simple words, how could I have not used them before? But whether or not they're reflective of the meaning provided is another matter altogether ;-P
1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. "Five Minutes" is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with "Nothing" usually end in "Fine". (Refer back to #1 for the meaning of "Fine".)
4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it!
5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about "nothing".(Refer back to #3 for the meaning of "Nothing".)
6.) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. "That's Okay" means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7.) Thanks: A woman is thanking you -- do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome.
8.) If you say so: Men, take note: this is a trick. This is THE statement that means the opposite of what it says. When a woman says, "If you say so," she actually means, "you're an idiot; I can't believe I ever married you, and you better ealize how lucky you are every day of your miserable life." She will then issue forth a loud sigh (see #5), and assign you a task worthy of your limited intelligence (although you will NOT be given the "five minutes" as discussed in #2).
9.) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F@!K YOU! -> It was only last night that I found out this is a taboo word for me in our verbal warfare. Preferably to be kept to the very minimum -_- *makes mental note*
10 .) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "what's wrong", for the woman's response to be "nothing" ( refer back to #3 for the meaning of "Nothing").

On a rainy wednesday night
Thank you for spoiling my birthday mood for me. If the fact that I made an effort to ensure that I have dinner at home [even if it's just simple fare] means nothing to you, I don't know what else is.
